For the office party, the potluck or the Christmas buffet
Whether it's a holiday potluck at work, a church Christmas dinner, or a “bring a dish” Christmas buffet at home, the problem is the same: three trifles and no mains. One list in the group chat fixes it — each dish can be taken once, and everyone sees what's still open.
- Mains: ham, turkey, a vegetarian main, sausage rolls or pigs in blankets
- Party food: cheese board, dips, sandwiches, quiche
- Sides and salads, bread rolls
- Sweets: Christmas cookies, mince pies, a yule log or trifle
- Drinks: mulled wine, eggnog, soft drinks, ice
- Plates, napkins, cups, serving spoons
Instead of a printable or a Google Sheet
A printed sheet stays on one desk, and a shared spreadsheet is awkward on a phone. A link opens in any browser from any chat or email — no account, no app. The organizer gets a private admin link to add dishes or change the date.
The date is the last Friday before Christmas. Party on another day? Change it in the sentence, and add a time: “Friday at 6pm”.
How it works
- 1Tap “Make the Christmas list” above and edit the dishes.
- 2Send the link to the team channel, the work email or the family group.
- 3Everyone taps what they're bringing and types a name. A day before, one tap copies a reminder with what's still missing.
Questions
- Does it work for a holiday party that isn't only Christmas?
- Yes. Call it what you like in the sentence — “Holiday potluck”, “End-of-year party” — and change the dishes.
- Can several people bring dessert?
- Write it as many times as you need. The list numbers them, and each line is one person.
- Do guests need an account?
- No. They open the link, pick a dish and type a name.
- Is it free?
- Yes. No account, no ads, no app.
