Why the rota on the fridge stops working

A printed rota or a spreadsheet decides who does what for the whole term — then someone goes home for a weekend and it all slips. Here each housemate picks their job for the weeks they're in, and the whole house can see what's done and what nobody has taken.

What goes on a house share cleaning rota

  • Kitchen: worktops, hob, sink, wiping the fridge, mopping the floor
  • Bathroom: toilet, shower, sink, mirror
  • Hoovering: hallway, stairs and the living room
  • Bins and recycling: out on bin day, bags replaced
  • Shared stuff: washing-up liquid, loo roll, bin bags

Bin day isn't Sunday? Change the day in the sentence: “every Wednesday”.

Keeping it fair

  • One job each per week — four jobs for four housemates
  • Big kitchen, lots of cooking? Put “Kitchen” on twice and two people share it
  • Agree that nobody takes the same job two weeks running
  • Students: set it for the term — “every Sunday for 10 weeks”

How it works

  1. 1Tap “Make the cleaning rota” above and change the jobs to fit your house.
  2. 2Send the link to the house group chat — WhatsApp, Telegram, wherever you talk.
  3. 3Each week, everyone taps their job and types a name. The house can see what's still open.

Questions

Is this a cleaning rota app?
There's nothing to install. It's a link that opens in the browser, with no account for anyone.
What if a housemate can't do their week?
They give the job back with one tap, and someone else can take it.
Can we change the jobs later?
Yes. Whoever made the rota gets an admin link to add or remove jobs and dates — the house link stays the same.
Is it free?
Yes. No ads, no account.
